2023 Summer Camps for Girls

Game Lab (rising 7th -9th  grade)

June: 19-23, 9am-1pm

Come learn how video games get made! Spend a week with Village School alumna turned game developer Anna Webster learning the basics! You’ll learn how to make and distribute your own games using tools like Scratch, and Bitsy, and learn history and fun facts about the industry. The digital world is your oyster!

Solve Like a Girl  (rising 4th -7th  grade)

June 19-23, 9am-3pm

In this full day camp, girls will explore patterns in numbers and nature. Figurate numbers, Fibonacci’s sequence, Pascal’s triangle, linear, inverse variation, exponential, and quadratic relationships will all come to life as we explore patterns in the real world. We will collect and analyze data, visualize patterns through girl-driven art creations, and engage our problem-solving skills with fun instant build challenges. Girls will also have an opportunity to learn strategies for solving contest-type math problems for all levels. We will take field trips to find patterns in our local built and natural environment. Girls will showcase their work at the end of the week. Join us if you love exploring, problem-solving, creating, and having fun!

Hands-on History! (rising 4th-6th grade)

June 26-30, 9am-3pm

Come and explore our local history! Each day will feature a field trip to a local site. We will learn about what life was like for Virginians in the past with hands-on history projects like crafts, cooking, historical fiction writing, and more! If you love imagining the past and being creative, this is the perfect camp for you!

Experimental Painting and Collage (rising 6th-9th grade)
June 26-30, 9am-3pm

A fun, messy, and action-packed art camp for girls who love to create! We will learn new techniques for painting, cutting, and manipulating paper that we will combine to create exciting finished pieces. This camp will be driven by YOU! While I will teach techniques and be there to guide and help, you will be the one deciding what newfound knowledge you will use to create each new work of art.

Poetry, Popsicles, and Prose (rising 4th – 6th grade)

July 10-14 & July 17-21, 9am-3pm

Are you interested in writing and love sweet treats? This camp will focus on writing stories and poetry while fostering a connection to the local Charlottesville community.
