Solve Like a Girl Math Camp: To Infinity and Beyond! (for rising 2nd– 7th graders)
Girls will explore the concept of infinity as it relates to shapes, arithmetic, and models of practical situations. Asymptotes, fractals, exponential decay, multiples, circles and more will be explored as we get to know how “infinity” plays out in mathematics and in the real world. Campers will also have the opportunity to grow their toolbox of strategies for tackling developmentally appropriate contest math problems. We will learn and have fun through art, games, problem-solving, hands-on modeling, and field trips. A one week camp from 9am-3pm taught by Linde Tassell.
June 15-19, 2020
Goddesses, Gorgons, and Greek! (for rising 4th-6th graders)
In this camp, we will explore the world of Ancient Greece, delving into its myths and monsters as well as learning about the different aspects of daily life. We will learn the Greek alphabet, find out the best way of tying a toga, and unearth some of ancient history’s best-kept secrets. Is there any truth to the myth of the Minotaur? What was it really like for athletes competing in the first Olympic Games? Which gods and goddesses were a demigod’s best friend (and which were certainly not)? Find out in Goddesses, Gorgons, and Greek! A one week camp from 9am-3pm taught by Lucy Western.
